What is your motivation for obtaining your degree?
My motivation for completing my MBA, is my future. I know that might sound cliché’ but, I am still in search of what I truly want to do with my career. Each course is leading me to think about real world situations, my current job, evaluate where I could use these skills, and how I want to use them. These classes are also allowing me to step outside of my comfort zone, and challenge myself in new ways to broaden my horizons. I know this series of classes will help in guiding me on my future path, and lead me to success.
Why did you choose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies Program?
I chose Averett’s GPS program because a friend of mine, Sarah Hudson, who is an advisor, began sharing advertisements on Facebook that sparked my interest. I was then able to research the school, ask Sarah questions, and learn more about how the program works. Once I spoke to the wonderful staff at Averett, I knew it would be a great fit for me. I am able to balance a full-time job, with the one class at a time course load. The unique course plan, and professor support have allowed me to really excel, as I hoped it would when I decided to enroll.
Please share one tip for your fellow classmates and future AU students:
One tip I would have for my classmates and future students is that you have the time to complete the work. Some weeks are going to seem busy and impossible but, the professors are wonderful, they understand most of us work full-time, and they give challenging assignments but it is nothing you can’t handle. Focus on time management, and utilizing the free moments you have throughout the week, and the weeks will fly by.
What helps to keep you motivated while you are in the program?
My family helps keep me motivated – especially my wife. Always saying “Go do your homework!” or my mom sending care packages of school supplies and Starbucks cards – they know when I put my mind to something I give it everything I have. It is nice to have that support system encouraging me to better my future.
What is your anticipated Date of Graduation?
My last class will be done September of 2018 – I can’t wait to walk with my cohort members in December 2018!
