Regionally accredited institutions include currently operating or closed institutions that held accreditation from one of the following bodies when you were studying with them:

  • Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

  • Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges

Transfer Credit for Undergraduate Students

You can apply for transfer credit evaluation after enrolling in a GPS program. For undergraduates, we only grant credit for courses in which you earned at least a C.

Once you are enrolled, your grades from previous colleges do not affect your GPA at Averett.

Maximum Number of Transferable Credits: For undergraduate degree completion programs, Averett only accepts students who plan to take at least 30 credits with us, 12 of them in the major field of study. We accept up to 60 transfer credits.

Transfer Credit for Graduate Students

Averett accepts up to six credit hours of graduate-level work from another accredited institution as long as you earned at least a B in those classes, and as long as the course topics apply to your degree program.

Documentation Needed for Credit Evaluation

When evaluating your previous educational experience, Averett GPS requires you to provide the following documents.

Official Transcripts: We will accept transcripts from your previous college(s) if they are less than a year old, sealed in an envelope from the college, and signed by an official. You can have your previous college send transcripts directly to Averett.

Official Test Results: To have CLEP, DSST, or DANTES tests evaluated for credit, you must send us official score reports from the testing body. We only consider credit from these exams for undergraduate students.

Certification Programs: Undergraduate applicants can have certified professional training evaluated for college credit. Averett only considers credits earned in programs that have been evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE) and that are listed in The National Guide to Educational Credit for Training Programs. You should be able to have a transcript sent to us from ACE or the training sponsor.

Military Experience: Military students can have their experience evaluated for undergraduate credits if the program was evaluated by ACE and listed in the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.
