What do healthcare data analysts do?
A healthcare data analyst, also known as a healthcare business analyst or health information management analyst, plays a vital role in the the effectiveness of an organization. Responsible for gathering, analyzing, compiling and validating crucial medical data, a healthcare data analyst has the ability to help organizations improve their quality of care and lower costs. Healthcare data analysts use data to drive big-picture healthcare decisions by reviewing data from a variety of resources, such as electronic health records, billing claims, cost reports and more.
Data is one of the most valuable assets that any organization owns. Graduates will be trained to properly collect, store, retrieve and present data that supports vital business decisions. From automating internal reports, presenting information to hospital executives or even synthesizing data that guides decision-making, healthcare analysts are vital to ensuring the organization runs smoothly.
Careers in Healthcare Analytics
Healthcare data analysts apply their knowledge of acquiring, organizing, evaluating, and modeling data to provide actionable information to clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers. There are numerous titles used across the healthcare sector for data analytics positions and job descriptions may vary considerably.
