Hello! My Name Is…
My name is Cole Green. I come from a small town in Northern Michigan of about 580 people. I am one of seven siblings and everyone is back home still. I love anything outdoors and grew up spending as much time outside as possible. For work, I currently am a Group Sales Manager at Marriott International. I work from home full-time while I stick around Danville for the meantime. I book groups at 20 hotels in the Northern Virginia Market. I love people and have a passion for helping them!
What is your motivation for obtaining your degree here at Averett University?
I want it to help me shift focus later on in my career. Thinking of the future is what keeps me motivated and not dwelling on the past. Time is of the essence in everything we do. The classes go by fast in the program so you have to be motivated before you even start!
Why did you choose Averett University’s Graduate & Professional Studies program?
I really wanted to go back to school for an MBA. My life all changed based on wanting to move and start over if you will. When I ended up in Danville I stumbled upon Averett. Once I spoke to admissions and learned more about the program I knew it was right for me. The schedule works great so far for a full-time working professional.
Whether in person or online, the classes offered are relevant in today’s workforce.
How has your degree from Averett University assisted you in your career?
So far I am only two classes in but it has given me something else to talk about in an interview. I have been interviewing internally and externally for my next challenge. This has already helped me stand out to recruiters.
What advice would you share for current and incoming students in Averett University’s GPS Program?
If you can take class in person, do it. I really enjoyed the in-person classes. I have switched to full-time on-line classes recently and it is still great. I just think hearing a lecture helps expand your own thoughts on a topic. You have to come into this ready to write and be able to relate this all to your real-world experience. Take each week as it comes. Pay attention to due dates and keep with the schedule.
What keeps you motivated while in your degree program?
Honestly, the learning of new information and gaining insight from my peers helps push me through this. I have already met great people in this program and they help push you through it.
What is your anticipated date of graduation?
Averett University, May of 2020!
