Hello! My Name Is…
My name is Bridgette Williams. My husband and I own our own landscaping business and as my kids got older I wanted to go back to school to finish my degree. I completed my associates in 1994. I know at 46 some may say why, but it was just something I wanted to accomplish for myself. I chose Averett because all of the classes could be completed online which suited my schedule. I also really connected with Andrea Levengood, Admissions Counselor at Averett and she talked up Averett so well, how could I say no??? I am hoping to use what I am learning at Averett, especially marketing and employee relations to help grow and maintain our business.

What advice would you share for current and incoming students in Averett University’s GPS Program?
My advice to current or incoming students is make sure you have communication with the professors. As an older student I found being honest with them if you are struggling or don’t understand something they prefer that and will accommodate.
What keeps you motivated while in your degree program?
My kids are 20 and 17. My daughter who is also in college has been very supportive and even pushing me early on when I wanted to give up. My son plays baseball year round and we travel quite a bit during the summer so the online classes work perfectly. We have been to almost every state on the east coast for baseball. When I’m not at a baseball field, I love stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and hiking.
What is your anticipated date of graduation?
My anticipated graduation date is December, 2019.
