Andrea is the admissions counselor for the Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Applied Science, and the on-campus Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA programs in Danville and Tidewater.
Welcome to Averett University! 2017 marks my 6th year anniversary as a Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) Admissions Counselor at Averett. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Women’s Studies from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio when I was older than the typical young-adult graduate. In 2011, I returned to my birthplace ~ Norfolk, Virginia ~ to embrace the opportunity to work at Averett University. As a non-traditional adult college student myself, I knew my personal experiences as an older adult earning a degree would enable me to provide insight and a unique perspective to other adult students seeking to return to school and complete their academic studies as well.
In addition to helping others launch (or relaunch) their college academic studies, I am an avid runner, voracious reader, and lifelong learner. I love spending time with my family and friends, and supporting the local music and arts community. I am deeply inspired by my students’ stories and enjoy building those relationships; they make me a better counselor and a better person.

Andrea earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Women’s Studies from Ohio State University in 2009.
