Goals and Course Topics
Through Averett University’s online K-8 Mathematics Specialist: Virginia Endorsement Program, you will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding required to further your career as a Math Specialist.
As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared to diagnose and assess students struggling with math difficulties, develop curriculum and instructional methods, and empower fellow teachers to help their students excel in mathematics.
Please note: This program does not lead to teacher licensure in the state of Virginia. Also, for acceptance into the program, students must be able to provide evidence of a Virginia Educator’s license.
Format
This online program is formatted for intense study and accelerated completion. This allows for a student to take up to 18 credits per semester to complete their degree at an accelerated pace in 20 months or less.
Practicum and internship experiences designed to be completed in your own school division are embedded throughout the program. No face-to-face meetings are required.
Who This Program Is For
The program is for licensed educators for whom teaching math is a primary responsibility. This is an online degree program so you must have access to an Internet-connected computer. Students with a GPA below 3.0 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
