What is your motivation for obtaining your degree?
Obtaining my degree was something that I always wanted to achieve for myself. Once I made up my mind and focused my eyes on the goal, I never turned back.
Why did you choose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies Program?
Within the workforce, there were others that had attended Averett University and spoke very highly of AU. Therefore, I did my homework and examined my options such as; visiting the campus, speaking with AU staff, speaking with other local universities and AU was my first choice.
Please share one tip for your fellow classmates and future AU students:
Never Give Up!! I really mean this. It is so easy to allow other things in your life to take over and put your education on the back burner. Please continue and push through. One class at a time will get you there! It took me approximately six (6) years to complete all my classes with AU due to the funding through my organization but I never gave up!!
What helps to keep you motivated while you are in the program?
It is very important to surround yourself with positive friends and love ones that share your same goal and want the best for you. Remember: Many will smile in your face but be careful. It is important to have encouragement because there may be days that you want to give up. It is important to have a schedule that surrounds family, school and time for yourself. If not, it can be overwhelming. Sure there will always be homework assignments but you must provide time through the week allowing time for family, friends and yourself.
