Jessica Cooke, online masters of education degree

What is your motivation for obtaining your degree?

My motivation for obtaining my Masters degree in Special Education is that once I am finished I will be able to teach Special Education in the state of Virginia. I am already a Special Education Assistant and going to work every day and interacting with the students constantly reassures me that the path I am on is the right one for me.

Why did you choose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies Program?

I chose Averett’s GPS Program because of the professionalism and helpfulness of the admissions office, as well as the high standards they set for their students. I know that once I graduate, I will be well prepared for my career.

Please share one tip for your fellow classmates and future AU students.

One tip that I would give my fellow classmates and future AU students would be to take your studies seriously but still leave time to relax and have fun. If you don’t carve out some “you time” then you will start to feel burnt out and that will show in the quality of your work.

What helps to keep you motivated while you are in the program?

Thus far my biggest motivators have been my family and friends. They do a good job of keeping me level headed when I start to feel overwhelmed.

What is your anticipated Date of Graduation?

Class of 2017!
