I’m Christine Baggerly and I got an MBA from Averett in 2004. I’m the Vice President for Sales and Support Services at a regional waste and recycling company.
When I got my degree I was working for an educational institution in the area and advanced degrees were important in that particular field. I also knew it had a dual purpose, that it would position me to pivot to a career in the for-profit world as well. Being able to collaborate with classmates from other industries was very valuable for me, particularly because I was in the non-profit world and most of my classmates were in the field of business.
I can honestly tell you that it changed my life because getting an MBA and being able to talk about it in my local Rotary Club is the reason that the president of the company where I work approached me when he had an opportunity come up. Otherwise, he never would have thought about hiring someone from an educational institution to work in his business. Because I’d gotten the degree and could celebrate going through the program, he thought of me when something came up.
