Graduate Certificate in Gifted Education: Endorsement Program
Goals and Course Topics
Through Averett University’s online Gifted Education Graduate Certificate, you will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding required to further your career as an educator; as you strive for endorsement as a special education educator!
As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared to identify and assess gifted students, with special attention paid to vulnerable populations of students; and how to develop and deliver high-quality gifted programming in a variety of learning environments.
Please note: For certificate programs, some transfer credits many not be accepted from prior institutions. Also, for a student to successfully earn their certificate they must complete 45 hours of practicum work.
Format
The certificate is designed to be completed in two semesters. You will take classes one at a time in eight-week blocks to allow for intense study of each concept. All courses are taught by licensed Virginia Educators working in the field as building administrators, instructional specialists and teachers.
Practicum experiences designed to be completed in your own school division are embedded throughout the program.
Who This Certificate Program Is For
The program is for professional educators who already hold a valid Virginia Educator’s license, and wish to become endorsed as a gifted teacher. This is an online degree program so you must have access to an Internet-connected computer. Students with a GPA below 3.0 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
