You're just three easy steps away from becoming a part of the Averett Family! Get started with Step 1 - and feel free to contact any of our Admissions Counselors (listed below) with any questions.

Step 1: Get Started!


Please complete steps A, B, and C at your earliest convenience.

  1. Complete the application for all programs (except for M.Ed.)
    1. APPLY NOW
    2. M.Ed. Students – Click here for the M.Ed. application
  2. Please request Official Transcripts from all institutions previously attended and have them sent to us or fill out the Transcript Request Form, and we’ll order and pay for your trancript:

  3. Email a copy of your driver’s license or government issued ID to: ready2beacougar@averett.edu


Step 2: Payment Options

  1. Pay your Enrollment Deposit, once you are officially accepted to AU
    1. Pay Now
  2. Complete the Financial Agreement Form to let us know how you plan to pay. Form must be submitted prior to class start. 

Grants and Scholarships that you may Qualify for

Military or Corporate Tuition Assistance – If you are a member of the United States Military (active-duty, veteran, reserve, DOD, etc.), complete the application and statement. View Military Scholarship Application and Statement   

Averett University participates in the following federal and state grant programs (you must apply for these):

Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG):

  • For undergraduate Averett Term students enrolling for Fall 2019 or later
  • Must be a Virginia domiciled resident
  • Must not have moved to Virginia for purposes of attending post-secondary school
  • Students who have previously received VTAG do not need to submit a new application unless they have broken enrollment
  • Please keep in mind that this grant is subject to change based on state budgetary needs
  • Awarded for qualifying majors only

Virginia Community College Transfer Grant:

  • Must have earned an Associate’s degree at a Virginia Two-year public institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the Associate’s Degree
  • Must be a Virginia domiciled resident
  • Complete the FAFSA
  • Undergraduate in-state student
  • Must be enrolled full-time at Averett University by the fall or spring semester following the completion of the Associate’s degree
  • Other criteria apply and subject to change


Step 3: Financial Aid

  1. Obtain your ID number and complete the FAFSA online
    1. Federal Student Aid ID Number
    2. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    3. Averett’s Federal School Code is 003702
  2. Complete loan entrance counseling and the mastery promissory note
    Loan Entrance Counseling is only required for first time Federal Direct Loan borrowers; all borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note. Both can be completed at the links below (you will need your FSA ID from the step above).

  3. Prepare for your session with Pam Harris, Assistant Director Financial Aid, Graduate & Professional Studies

      1. Financial Aid Information Form
      2. Title IV Authorization Form
      3. FERPA Form
  4. Reserve your seat in an online information meeting with Pam Harris to review Financial Aid and required paperwork
