Averett University today announced a new agreement with the K-12 Teacher’s Alliance (KTA), which partners with non-profit, fully-accredited colleges and universities across the country to bring high quality education to K-12 teachers and administrators.
With members across the spectrum of K-12 education, the K-12 Teachers Alliance serves educators by gathering the strengths of the entire K-12 community, including public, private, charter, contract and online schools, as well as unions and other educator organizations. The organization will do marketing, recruitment and advising for Averett’s masters of education programs, part of the university’s Graduate and Professional Studies Program.
“In discussions with KTA, as well as some of their other partners, we were very impressed with the level of success, professionalism and just as importantly, the match in student-centric mission,” said Dr. Sue Davis, chair of Averett’s Department of Education and director of Teacher Education. “Our KTA partners will be an extension of our internal team, and bring an established network of relationships with school districts across the state. This new partnership aligns with our existing strategic efforts to become more state-wide and maximize our exposure in both rural and metropolitan areas.”
Averett offers four online programs in graduate-level education: master of education, curriculum and instruction; master of education in special education – endorsement track; master of education in special education – licensure track; and master of education, administration and supervision. The popular program consistently places nearly 100 percent of its graduates in teaching positions.
KTA’s partnerships are exclusive by program and geography, meaning in Virginia, Averett will be their only partner. KTA currently works with partners such as Concordia University, Carson-Newman University, University of St. Thomas, Loyola University and Gardner-Webb University.
KTA will be on Averett’s main campus in the near future for an official agreement signing.
