Angela Atkins nursing student

We recently asked Angela to share her motivation for obtaining her BSN degree.  She writes, “My motivation for furthering my education centers around my desire to be successful in my career. As a Registered Nurse, I want to care for my patients, families and coworkers to the best of my ability and use the valuable lessons I learn to enhance their experiences and ultimately change lives.”

We asked Angela why she chose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies program, and she writes, “After careful consideration of options for my RN to BSN, I chose Averett’s GPS Program because of my love for this community and the relationship between my place of employment (Danville Regional Medical Center) and Averett University. The RN to BSN program is well organized and the support I received from the staff of Averett, specifically the nursing program, was above and beyond. I would strongly recommend the program for students looking to obtain their RN degree and also current Registered Nurses with a desire to further their education. The experience for me has been amazing.”

AngelaAtkins1We asked Angela to share one tip for her fellow classmates and future AU students.  She writes, “One tip for future AU students is to reach out to classmates and instructors for support. Online classes are intimidating due to lack of face to face instruction but interacting and getting to know your classmates will give you the support and stability to be successful.”

Lastly, we asked Angela to share what keeps her motivated while in the BSN program, and she writes, “My motivation comes from my desire to learn, share, and be successful in my professional life. My career path requires flexibility and adaptation to constant change with patients, families, and healthcare in general. My classes and lessons learned through the RN to BSN program give me knowledge to be a better leader, mentor and provider for patients, families and work team members. My anticipated graduation date is December 2016 and I am very excited. The experience has been wonderful and I would recommend the program!”

Angela, we are so proud of you, and honored that you have chosen Averett for this important journey! We look forward to celebrating your graduation with you in December 2016! You are an inspiration to us, and we thank you for choosing Averett University!
