We recently asked Giovanka what motivated her to earn her MBA. She writes, “My motivation for obtaining my degree is self-satisfaction. I would have loved to complete it earlier but with family life and military relocations, it did not happen.”
We asked Giovanka why she chose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies program, and she writes, “I will honestly say that I was a bit apprehensive about going back to school after a 20-year hiatus. I was no longer this young student coming straight out of high school without any responsibilities. I was now in my 40s, with a family, a full-time job, a part-time job, and a volunteer position with the Girl Scouts. I did not know what to expect. After speaking many times with Melissa Anderson, she was able to explain the entire process to me and updated me on my next steps. What I liked most about Averett’s GPS Program was that it could all be done from the comfort of my home.”
We asked Giovanka to share a tip for her fellow classmates and future Averett students… “The one tip that I can offer to my fellow classmates & future AU students is set time aside for doing your assignments.”
We asked Giovanka what keeps her motivated while in the MBA program, and she writes, “What helps to keep me motivated while I am in the program is my family. I cannot just preach to my three children about the importance of education. I have to be their example. They need to see that their mother is practicing what she preaches.”
