If you have already submitted an online application for admission, you may skip Step 1 and proceed to Step 2.

If you have applied for admission to one of our business, criminal justice, leadership, or nursing degree programs and have questions regarding Steps 1 and 2 of this checklist, please contact your Admissions Counselor.

Once your seat has been reserved, complete the following steps that are applicable to your degree.

The following steps are required in order to be considered for acceptance to AU:

A. Official Transcripts

In order to be admitted to AU, we must receive all official transcripts (undergraduate, graduate, military, applicable academies, training programs, and/or certifications) from all institutions previously attended. To request official transcripts, please click the button below to download the Transcript Request Form. Please complete this form, with your signature, and upload it here. Averett will order and pay for the transcripts on your behalf.

AU does not guarantee acceptance of all transfer credits submitted to the University. Upon receipt of all applicable transcripts, new undergraduate students will receive an Official Evaluation of Credits from the Registrar’s Office denoting the credits that transferred into the University.

Download a copy of the New Student Roadmap to Success, complete the form, and upload it here.

For Master of Education Programs Only:

D. Valid Virginia Teaching License – Education Programs Only

Upload a copy of your valid Virginia Teaching License. The GPS Admissions Office may also obtain a copy of your teaching license online at the VDOE website from the Commonwealth’s database. If we have any difficulties locating your teaching license, we will contact you.

E. Praxis CORE Scores – Sp. Ed. Track Only

Students in the Special Ed Initial Licensure Track must also submit: Praxis CORE Academic Skills Test for Educators (or equivalent). Your scores in Reading (Test 5712), Writing (Test 5722), and Mathematics (Test 5732) will be evaluated as part of your file. A minimum passing score is required.

Please complete the remaining steps at your earliest convenience to ensure all paperwork is in order. If you plan to use Financial Aid, we suggest you start the process as soon as possible.

A. $50 - Tuition Deposit

Submit your tuition deposit online through our secure payment center. First, choose GPS Enrollment Deposit. On the next screen, for "Select a Deposit Type", choose the drop down option: GPS Deposit $50.00 - and, then complete all required fields.

One of the first steps in becoming a successful college student is understanding your available resources. Access to Success in Moodle is a tutorial designed to introduce you to valuable tools and resources, and to offer you an opportunity to “practice” using the technology necessary for success in your Averett coursework.

Access to Success – Undergraduate

Access to Success in Moodle is a week-long activity course designed to introduce you to valuable tools and resources and to offer you an opportunity to “practice” using the technology necessary for success in your Averett coursework.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
All students are required to attend a Mandatory Welcome Call scheduled in the weeks prior to the start of your first course. Please ensure you have received the date and time from your Admissions Counselor, and please use the following information to join the call:

Once logged in, you will see ACCESS TO SUCCESS. Click on that title and the course will open. You should print out the Moodle instruction booklet first. This will be helpful in navigating through the course.

Click throughout the course to read the material and complete the exercises. *Please add your name to all posted assignments to ensure you receive credit.
